Neptune Trine Natal Pluto, Sun Enters Aquarius

Posted in Aquarius, Libra, Neptune, Pluto, Sun on 01/20/2010 by nemain nyx

From mid-January through mid-February Neptune in Aquarius is exactly trine my (including many others in my generation) natal Pluto in Libra at 25 degrees.

Pluto resides in my 5th house (Nati) of creativity and self-expression. The difficulties I experience in freely expressing myself are my burden to bear. However, for a short period and at a very well-timed point in my life I am lent the free-flowing power of Neptune in Aquarius. This harmonic transit comes at a time when I need self-evaluation the most, and I’m finding this to be absolutely invaluable as I stare down the barrel of some very difficult transits coming in the near future. Thank you Neptune!

Today the Sun enters Aquarius to join Neptune and Venus. Already since Monday I’ve been getting some very heady and mind-expanding ideas about some things I’ve had a history of being a jealous Scorpion about. Venus in Aquarius is about loving as you will. Enjoying yourself as you will. Sun in Aquarius is about love of experience, knowledge, the collective, expansion, and abstract thought. Humanist in nature, however the negative aspects tend towards a a sense of detachment possibly to the extent of hypocrisy or perversity.

The sun is strongly conjunct Venus today (the strongest conjunct we’ll see in Aquarius this year) however the connection is not as strong as the Capricorn transit earlier this month. You may feel a lot of that Aquarian energy flowing through you the next couple of days. I’m trying to appreciate this easy-going feeling. Translation: happiness! Because I’m sure to wish I could draw upon it when we hit that next Saturn/Pluto square at the end of the month. Love yourself today, make it an early Valentine’s day just for you. How’s that for a Neptune in Aquarius idea?

Eclipse in Capricorn

Posted in Capricorn, Libra, Luna, Mercury, Pluto, Retrograde Station, Saturn on 01/15/2010 by nemain nyx

The new moon eclipse at 25 degrees in Capricorn is at an exact square with my (and many others my age) Pluto in Libra (mine in the 4th house). Anchored in Astrology asks what this eclipse’s aspects mean to your natal chart. Especially since Mercury doesn’t enter the direct station until after the eclipse…it has an unpredictable effect.

So to me, this eclipse is signifying a Plutonian effect on my home and family house. A hard square, right in my Libra zone, right on top of my Saturn Return.

As you can guess I’m facing some day-to-day difficulty that I’m slightly bitter about. But I’m beginning to see this Saturn Return take shape, and it isn’t all bad (of course…like I’ve been told). However, we learn best through trial and error and there are certainly a lot of errors that were made…and those are coming to light.

These are notions I can handle. The Pluto square eclipse makes me nervous, just as any Pluto idea makes me nervous at the moment. Mercury moving direct this week activates what Robert Wilkinson calls “The Grand Irrationality”, or the current Pluto/Neptune situation. At the moment, it’s quite certainly septile (considered an “irrational” aspect in of itself). However, there are strong conjuncts with both planets to Jupiter and (currently) Mercury. Jupiter is poised to enter Aquarius, to make things quite heady, and Mercury is fogging up the eclipse with it’s void state. So here you have a Grand Irrationality.

Right about when I’m begging for some certainty. Game on, life.

On the natal front, the Sun/Venus conjunct is squaring my natal Jupiter in Libra. Yes, Libra again. However, an interesting and powerful Uranus aspect is forming, Uranus in Pisces is trine my natal Uranus on the Scorpio/Sagittarius cusp. So until later in the year when Uranus stations retrograde, the Uranus effect on the current reformation of my life should proceed with greater ease. Maybe some greater personal innovation is in store. There’s usually a silver lining, yes?

Jupiter Goes Direct!

Posted in Aquarius, Current Events, Direct Station, Jupiter, Mars, Pluto, Saturn, Venus on 10/12/2009 by ananda silvermoon

Happy Jupiter Direct, everyone! The planet of luck stationed direct just a few minutes ago at 17+ Aquarius.

Sorry things are kinda quiet around here; Nyx is traveling, and I’m overwhelmed with other stuff. Here’s Astrolabe’s interpretation of how my life is going right now:

Jupiter is Square your Moon applying with an orb of 01 degrees XX minutes.
Too much is happening! You may find yourself reacting to emotionally charged situations involving females now. There may also be some conflicts of opinion over differing judgments. You may need to adapt to extravagant or wasteful situations (often in public) and make important judgment calls. Be reasonable in your expectations about others, family matters, and real estate. Be honest with yourself about obligations. Don’t expect the world to do everything for you, and you don’t have to be everyone else’s protector.

Well, it’s right about the too much is happening part anyway. Here’s a little preview of the week ahead: Venus sextiles Mars and conjuncts Saturn on Tuesday (PDT), then enters Libra on Wednesday afternoon, promptly running into a square with Pluto that’s exact Thursday morning at 10:51 PDT. Mars’ entry to Leo on Friday is also accompanied by a Solar quincunx to Uranus and trine to Neptune the same day. On Sunday Mars also forms a quincunx to Pluto, on the same day that the Moon enters the sign ruled by these two planets, Scorpio. Holy crap, that’s a lot of energy in one week!

I’m dealing by staying busy, and getting things that need to get done, done. I’m reeling a bit from some recent news (very good!) about an upcoming event, and the associated astrology, which is a bit too much for me to believe right now. Of course, I’m seeing in it what I want to see; the Universe will unfold however it sees fit. My job now – and our job in general with astrology – is to take the opportunity the Universe is providing and make the best of it.

Scorpio Moon, Repressed Trauma

Posted in Aquarius, Asteroids, Current Events, Luna, Mercury, Neptune, Pluto, Saturn, Scorpio on 09/22/2009 by ananda silvermoon

Just a quick post here while this is fresh in my mind; I’ve been working on a post on the influence of Neptune lately but it turns out Neptune is very tricky and hard to get ahold of. I’m going to keep working on it and hopefully something will come out that makes sense.

In the meantime, it’s a Scorpio moon, which we all know we love here at LN. Combined with the Sun/Mercury/Saturn connjunction stuff going on, and some careful reading of Sue Thompkins’ Aspects book we’ve mentioned previously, I have managed to dig deep into some early, unremembered aspects of my life and uncovered some potential trauma in my early life. It fits, at least, and scarily well. So I’ve been dealing with all of the associated memories and emotions bubbling up to the surface.

Before I went to bed last night I set my alarm for 8:00 AM. I woke up this morning surprisingly well-rested, on my own accord, without the alarm going off. I got out of bed and looked at the clock: it was 11:30. AAAAGH! 3 and a half hours late. I managed to get in to work by noon… guess it’ll be a long day today.

Oh, and one more thing that I noticed yesterday: Pandora, asteroid #55, is all up in the triple conjunction going on in late Aquarius. Is someone opening up her box in the health care debate? Maybe a little?

Stupid Mercury, playing tricks on us, and messing with Saturn (getting in the way of our responsibilities). Stupid Scorpio Moon, making me plumb the depths of my unconscious. Stupid Pandora, opening up cans of worms all over everything.

Sorry. Today I am grumpy, tired, angry, hurt, hungry, and stressed out.

Barley Moon in Pisces and The Retrograde Extravaganza

Posted in Aries, Direct Station, Jupiter, Luna, Mercury, Neptune, Pisces, Pluto, Retrograde Station, Uranus on 09/01/2009 by nemain nyx

Some big motion in the coming weeks:

Friday, we have the big glorious full moon in Pisces (aka the Corn or Barley Moon) to preside over the start of our Labor Day Weekend, though she will quickly move into Aries for the remainder. A Piscean moon is fertile and sensitive, a great time to set some emotional healing in motion. (I also happen to have Eros sextile my Venus for this moon – Woo Woo!)

Next week is a big one, and I’ve been watching this coming for months now. From September 7th through about the 11th we will have FIVE planets in retrograde before Pluto goes direct. Three in Air Signs (Jupiter, Mercury, and Neptune).

What does this mean? I’m not sure, probably much of the same energy as we’re feeling now. I do know what to expect from a Mercury Retrograde phase, and hopefully we’ll hear more from Ananda as she finds it invigorating. I lean fatalistic so I’ve put all sorts of notes to myself like “watch your mouth, watch your driving, keep your head on straight” but we don’t all have to be as paranoid as me. I was born with all of my major planets direct.

In October I have a Sun/n.Saturn contact right about the time I go on a road trip (jeez, watch me try to plan anything). This is one for me to pay attention to. I have Saturn in Libra (looking down the barrel of my Saturn return in a couple years) and the Sun in Libra contact to Saturn will tell me a little bit about the type of situation I might be in for. It’s easy for me to assume that because Libra means “balance” and “partnership” that these are the areas where I’m going to feel the makeover. This is absolutely true, but Saturn is subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) so I can assume all I want about my return but I won’t know what I’m getting until I get it. Here’s my chance to feel a bit of the energy. It may be that some of the seeds sown during this contact might be further developed when I hit my return.

Moon Square Natal Pluto: It Feels Like Death

Posted in Luna, Pluto on 08/31/2009 by nemain nyx

I’m in the process of trying to let something go. Something that was at once a source of happiness and poison. The first few days are the hardest, and I made the mistake of attempting to banish something from myself while the moon is waxing (to make it extra hard).

As susceptible to the blues as i am, this is a painful morning and a painful moon/natal Pluto square.

Astrolabe says this of the transit:

You need to release some internal pressures now, but that may be difficult. Your reactions to things may be somewhat compulsive now and a challenge to manage. Physical tensions, territorial displays, and indirect manipulations are possible now.

Pluto presides over thresholds, and just as the status of the celestial body itself is a gray area, when it squares the moon it casts a shadow over emotional clarity. You feel cut off from your own feelings. The positive aspect of this is that it allows for you to put up a certain armor if necessary, however it is difficult to take that armor off when you need to. More on Moon/Pluto transits.

I’m just in a sad place and it will take time to crawl out of it and get back on my feet. This is all happening under a Sun/Saturn applying conjunct so I’m confident that the necessary changes will allow for better growth in the end. Just like cutting of the head of a basil plant to encourage more leaves. There’s a fruitful benefit, but you will miss the flower.

Scorpio Moon, Mars Trine Pluto

Posted in Capricorn, Current Events, Mars, Pluto, Scorpio, Taurus, Virgo on 06/03/2009 by ananda silvermoon

Luna crossed over into Scorpio about an hour and a half ago, moving into opposition with Mars, which is trining Pluto. Mars is the traditional ruler of Scorpio and Pluto the modern ruler; these two planets in aspect will have real consequences for anyone with prominent Scorpio in their charts. Additionally, since it’s happening in Capricorn/Taurus, those with strong Earth will likely also feel it as well. (As a Cap with Taurus rising and Scorpio moon, I think it’s fair to say that I’m feeling a bit stressed out by this stuff, especially when you take into consideration the triple conjunction we’ve talked so much about already. But this post isn’t about me.)

The big aspect of the day is Mars trine Pluto. Trine is considered a “good” or “easy” aspect, but with both Mars – ruler of action, war, conflict, aggression – and Pluto – ruler of sex, death, loss, transformation – involved, it is hard to see how this aspect could not have a darker side. In fact, one of the biggest news stories right now, that of the murder/assassination of abortion provider Dr. George Tiller, can be viewed through the lens of this Mars/Pluto aspect. Sex + death = abortion; Mars can precipitate violence; the fact that the murder occurred in church this past Sunday suggests a cold calculation that only Scorpio could be capable of.

In fact, taking a glance at the birth chart of Scott Roeder – the prime suspect in this heinous crime – (Feb 25, 1958 – time and place unknown), the first thing I notice is a conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune – just like the current conjunction – along with the lunar North Node in the early degrees of Scorpio. I also notice that his natal Pluto is in the first degree of Virgo, forming the third leg of a grand earth trine with the current Pluto/Mars trine. His Mars is placed in Capricorn, suggesting that he firmly believes that his actions (Mars) are doing the right/best thing (Capricorn). Interestingly, Mars is also stressfully sesquisquare Pluto in his birth chart; this aspect will repeat itself soon as well. It will be interesting to see if the exact sesquisquare will coincide with a key event in this case.

Anyway, I know this isn’t a political blog though we do follow mundane astrology, but I just want to take a moment to remember Dr. Tiller as a hero to women and families everywhere, providing women with the choice to save their very-much-wanted children from short, tragic, and painful lives of medical intervention and expensive, invasive, painful experiences. The vast majority – if not all – of the cases that Dr. Tiller saw which ended in abortion were those in which the unborn children in question had severe defects incompatible with life as you or I know it. I don’t want to open this up as a platform for the debate over abortion – there are so many other sites all over the internet for that – so I am closing comments on this post. If you have anything positive to say, feel free to email me at and I will post your comments myself if I so choose. Thanks for your understanding.
